    ISO 22010:2007 describes a process for managing, controlling and monitoring the mass properties of space systems. The relationship between this management plan and the performance parameters for mass properties to be met throughout the mission is described. Ground handling, dynamics analysis and test set-ups that rely on accurate mass properties inputs are identified. ISO 22010:2007 covers all programme phases from pre-proposal through to end of life.

    ISO 16454:2007 is intended to be used for the determination of the stress/strain distribution and margins of safety in launch vehicles and spacecraft primary structure design. Liquid propellant engine structures, solid propellant engine nozzles and the solid propellant itself are not covered, but liquid propellant tanks, pressure vessels and solid propellant cases are within the scope of ISO 16454:2007. ISO 16454:2007 provides requirements for the determination of maximum stress and corresponding margin of safety under loading, and defines criteria for static strength failure modes, such as rupture, collapse and detrimental yielding. Critical conditions associated with fatigue, creep and crack growths are not covered. Notwithstanding these limitations in scope, the results of stress calculations based on the requirements of ISO 16454:2007 are applicable to other critical condition analyses. In accordance with the requirements of ISO 16454:2007, models, methods and procedures for stress determination can also be applied to the displacements and deformation calculations, as well as to the loads definition, applied to substructures and structural members of structures under consideration. When ISO 16454:2007 is applied, it is assumed that temperature distribution has been determined and is used as input data.

ISO 23041:2007 provides recommended practices for the development of space operations and support documentation, which should facilitate the sharing and exchange of beneficial information between organizations involved with space operations. ISO 23041:2007 establishes a common interface to simplify space operations planning and reduce the effort needed to learn and work with new space programmes and support organizations.

    ISO 21460:2007 defines the Proximity-1 space link protocol physical layer. It specifies the channel connection process, provision for frequency bands and assignments, hailing channel, polarization, modulation, data rates, and performance requirements. Currently, the physical layer only defines operations at UHF frequencies for the Mars environment. The coding layer is defined in ISO 21459. The data link layer is defined in ISO 22663. ISO 21460:2007 does not specify individual implementations or products; implementation of service interfaces within real systems; the methods or technologies required to perform the procedures; or the management activities required to configure and control the protocol. The scope and field of application are furthermore detailed in subclause 1.3 of the enclosed CCSDS publication.

    ISO 22663:2007 defines the Proximity-1 space link protocol data link layer (framing, media access, data services, and input-output sublayers). It specifies the protocol data units, framing, media access control, expedited and sequenced controlled data transfer, timing service, i/o control, as well as the procedures for establishing and terminating a session between a caller and responder. The coding and synchronization sublayer is defined in ISO 21459. The physical layer is defined in ISO 21460. ISO 22663:2007 does not specify individual implementations or products; implementation of service interfaces within real systems; the methods or technologies required to perform the procedures; or the management activities required to configure and control the protocol.
