    ISO 22671:2011 defines the Communications Link Transmission Unit (CLTU) service in conformance with the transfer services specified in CCSDS 910.4-B-2 (equivalent to ISO 15396). The Forward CLTU service is a Space Link Extension (SLE) transfer service that enables a mission to send Communications Link Transmission Units (CLTUs) to a spacecraft. ISO 22671:2011 defines, in an abstract manner, the Forward CLTU service in terms of the operations necessary to provide the transfer service, the parameter data associated with each operation, the behaviors that result from the invocation of each operation, and the relationship between, and the valid sequence of, the operations and resulting behaviors. ISO 22671:2011 does not specify individual implementations or products, the implementation of entities or interfaces within real systems, the methods or technologies required to radiate data to a spacecraft and to acquire telemetry frames from the signals received from that spacecraft for extraction of the Operational Control Field, the methods or technologies required for communications, or the management activities necessary to schedule, configure, and control the Forward CLTU service.

    ISO 15889:2011 defines the Enhanced Ada SubseT (EAST) language used to create descriptions of data called Data Description Records (DDRs). Such DDRs ensure a complete and exact understanding of the data and allow it to be interpreted in an automated fashion. This means that a software tool is able to analyse a DDR and interpret the format of the associated data. This allows the software to extract values from the data on any host machine (i.e. on a different machine from the one that produced the data).

    ISO 14300-2:2011 defines the product assurance (PA) policy, objectives, principles, and requirements for the establishment and implementation of PA programmes for space programmes covering mission definition, design, development, production and operations of space products, including disposal. The PA discipline covers: PA management, quality assurance, safety assurance, dependability (reliability, availability and maintainability) assurance of software and hardware products, as well as parts (including electrical, electromechanical and electronic components, and mechanical parts), materials and processes assurance. ISO 14300-2:2011 defines their respective objectives, policies, and principles to achieve the stated overall PA objectives throughout the complete life cycle of the products. The provisions of ISO 14300-2:2011 apply to space products.

    ISO 14300-1:2011 addresses the space programme/project management requirements, applicable through a top-down approach in a contractual relationship between customers and suppliers. The applicable requirements for product assurance are given in ISO 14300-2. Annex A of ISO 14300-1:2011 gives the general ISO standards framework for space systems programme management. ISO 14300-1:2011 is intended to be used as a basis when establishing and negotiating customer project management requirements, and guiding the supplier''s responses. It allows: a clear definition of the roles, responsibilities and authorities of the different customers and suppliers; coherence between their activities; communication capability between them; stable and rigorous project organization; and as far as possible, standardization of the rules applicable to various programmess/projects. It still allows for supplier flexibility in its implementation and tailoring.

    ISO 24113:2011 defines the primary space debris mitigation requirements applicable to all elements of unmanned systems launched into, or passing through, near-Earth space, including launch vehicle orbital stages, operating spacecraft and any objects released as part of normal operations or disposal actions. The requirements contained in ISO 24113:2011 are intended to reduce the growth of space debris by ensuring that spacecraft and launch vehicle orbital stages are designed, operated and disposed of in a manner that prevents them from generating debris throughout their orbital lifetime. ISO 24113:2011 is the top-level standard in a family of standards addressing debris mitigation. It will be the main interface for the user, bridging between the primary debris mitigation requirements and the lower-level implementation standards that will ensure compliance. ISO 24113:2011 does not cover launch phase safety for which specific rules are defined elsewhere.
