The mass may be extruded through two meshes of size 0.3-2.0 mm, the upstream mesh being of smaller size, to yield filaments 21 in groups separated by planes of discontinuity 20, the border filaments 22 in a group being flattened. The extruded filaments may be compressed by passage through a tapered bore. The fungal mass may be those disclosed in Specifications 1331472 and 1346062.
